I am a graduate student in landscape architecture who has used vectorworks designer (which contains the landmark module) for my core projects and construction documents the past two semesters. In many ways it is superior to autocad for the type of work that landscape architects do. Planting plans, irrigation plans, and graphics are MUCH easier once you learn the process. It is cross-platform so all those mac lovers will appreciate that and files imported and exported back to Autocad look identical compared to original .dwg files. The program is more object-based meaning you are creating objects not just drawing lines (though you can do both). Though the profession is dominated by Autocad, VW landmark seems to be a better solution for most landscape architects since its is less expensive, much easier to learn, and geared specifically for landscape architects.
